IS SLEEP TRAINING SELFISH?
Sleep is a biological necessity, not a luxury. It’s not selfish to want sleep. It’s a need of all humans (yes, even parents!). Adults need 7-9 hours of daily sleep in order to be fit to operate a vehicle. You are worth getting the rest you need!
Adequate sleep is also a necessity for your child. If your child isn’t getting enough sleep, it negatively affects their mood, development, immune system, etc. What’s adequate? 17-20 hrs in a 24 hr day for newborns, 14-17 hrs for infants, and 12-14 hrs for toddlers.
Your child may protest the changes for a few nights and express that through tears, but this is a short term transition time. once your child starts getting the sleep they need, they will be healthier and happier overall, and your entire family will be in a better place. That’s why I do what I do!
